FAQs

I need to return something, but the library is closed? Where do I put it?

You may return items at the front desk of the library when we are open (see hours here), or put them in the outdoor bookdrop 24/7 when we are closed. Yes, the bookdrop can take audiovisual items! Place them in the slot labeled “AV.”

Is the library taking book donations?

As of June 2024 the Friends are temporarily pausing the acceptance of book donations, due to the book sale. We will update you when they can take donations again; likely in early July.
Please email the Friends at friends.booksale@gmail.com if you have any questions.

What can I do online?

What can’t you do!?  Find e-books, e-audiobooks, movies, music and more with your library card through the resources listed here: Listen, Read & Watch – Westchester Library System (westchesterlibraries.org)

I haven’t used my library card in a while and when I tried I was told it had expired. What do I do?

All library cards are good for three years and then they expire.  It’s a way that we can make sure that your contact information is still the same.

Stop into the library with your library card and ID, and we can verify that your information is up to date.

I tried to log on and don’t know my PIN?

Try to use the last four digits of your telephone number.  That’s the default PIN that everyone is assigned when getting a new card.  It may be from a telephone number you don’t have anymore (perhaps you only had a landline when you first signed up for your library card and now you only have a cell phone).  If that doesn’t work, call or stop by the library when we’re open, or, send an email to the following link that has your name, address, library card number and telephone number. We’ll reset your PIN and let you know when we’ve done so:  libraryref@irvingtonny.gov

(Note:  this may take a few days to set up — please be patient!)
